What's Happening in Reading? ![]() Parent Workshops in Kindergarten, First and Second GradesKindergarten and First Grade provided an evening parent workshop in October. The focus was on letter formation and on the different ways to know letters. The classroom teachers provided a handwriting lesson for participating students and parents. Parents had a chance to write with their children. Every family received a packet of Handwriting Without Tears items, along with activities to do at home to build small muscle control.
First and Second Grades extended an invitation to parents for a morning workshop in November, that focused on supporting our young readers as they select Good-Fit books. The Title 1 Reading Specialists provided some information for parents at the outset. Then parents joined their children in classrooms for a mini-lesson on Good Fit Books, provided by each classroom teacher. Parents got to spend a little time reading and chatting with their children about the books they had chosen for their book baskets. Afterwards, parents participated in an open forum about their thoughts after spending time in the classroom with their children. Files No "Files" exist(s) Slideshows
